EKSU Screens Instructors for Entrepreneurship Centre

Over five hundred skill acquisition trainers,
professionals and artisans on Monday, June
22, 2015 converged at the Entrepreneurship
centre of the Ekiti State University for the
screening exercise to choose instructors for
the various entrepreneurship training
courses and vocations.

Ekiti State University has taken the lead
among other Universities by conforming to
the directive of the National Universities
Commission (NUC) which recommends
entrepreneurship training for
undergraduates.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oladipo Aina
who has shown tremendous commitment
to the growth of the entrepreneurship
centre explained that the students would
benefit immensely from the skill acquisition
opportunities.

Prof. Aina explained that the
entrepreneurship centre which operates
from newly constructed Multi Million Naira
edifice consists of several training/
classrooms, offices and show rooms.

The first stage of the screening involved
practical display of mastery in the various
trades by the candidates.

The areas involved are Hairdressing,
Tailoring, Bead making, Event Planning and
Decoration, Creative Design, Carpentry, Bag
making, paints production, catering, Hat
making and Barbing.

After the screening the Vice-Chancellor
represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor
(Academic), Prof. Ibiyinka Ogunlade led
other management team to engage the
candidates in a discussion to further
determine their competence.

Prof. Ogunlade said that the University has
taken a huge leap into the future by
providing adequate training the graduates
who don’t have to wait unendingly for the
non available “white collar” jobs.

The Director of the EKSU Entrepreneurship
Centre, Dr. Ariyo Awe said the objective was
to engage qualified trainers for the
entrepreneurship centre.
