Biodun Oyedepo, the former National
President, Nigerian Institute of Mechanical
Engineers (NiMechE) while delivering a
lecture at the Induction Ceremony of the
graduating class of Mechanical Engineering
students on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the
University.

In his lecture titled “Towards Professionalism in Mechanical Engineering,” Engr. Oyedepo noted that Mechanical Engineers should inject humanity into their practice and be conscious of the safety and welfare of the immediate and far environments.

Prince Oyedepo also encouraged the
students to keep improving themselves in
the field. “Be active in the Nigerian Society
of Engineers (NSE) and NiMechE to keep
abreast of developments in Engineering.

Attend Engineering seminars and workshops, imbibe Engineering to be a distinct and outstanding professional in today’s crowded market space,” he said.

Speaking on the purpose of the programme,
the immediate past National President,
NiMechE, Engr. Ayo Fanimokun, stated that
the aim was to bring students into the
membership of the body after their
graduation.

According to him, another benefit of the
membership is that it automatically gives
them two marks during their professional
examination.

The Dean, College of Engineering, Professor
Cleophas Lotto, praised the efforts of the
students during the years of learning in
school, their dedication towards achieving
academic excellence and their
determination to garner everything needed
to build them for what lies ahead.

He, however, implored the students to
comport themselves well in the outside
world after their graduation.
