To achieve this, some pupils of the school
have been incorporated to be part of the
Defence Headquarters-approved Science
and Engineering Apprentice Programme for
eight weeks.

The Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern
Naval Command, Rear Admiral Henry
Babalola, stated this while inaugurating an
ultra modern Physics, Chemistry, Biology
and Information and Communication
Technology centre in the school.

The event was part of activities to mark the
59th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.
Babalola, who was excited about the
accomplishments of the school, said it was
rated high during the last visit of the Special
Technical Team on Education from the
Naval Headquarters.

He said, “We are ready to invest more in this
school to commence research in science
education to enable its pupils to invent
something new. We are ready for this and
the challenge is yours.”

According to him, the school is outstanding
as it meets the requirements of the state
and federal ministries of education.

He added, “The school is very outstanding in
science and ICT education as well as arts. It
also has a good environment and quality
teachers. The Naval Technical Education
team’s comment when its members visited
here was exemplary and I am pleased with
the commandant of the school. The science
and laboratory equipment in the school
shows that it is fulfilling its dream.”

The school Commandant, Commander
Regina Eleazu-Uriri, said the achievements
recorded in the college were due to the
support of the Eastern Naval Command and
Naval Headquarters.

She said, “While working closely with
research personnel, who act as mentors,
our students here will experience scientific
and engineering practice now available in
the school environment to prepare them
for the unique and positive experience in
their fields of interest.”

The school in 2014 had emerged the overall
best in the National Examination Council in
the state.(Punch)
