The Board of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) held its 62nd General Meeting where they approved the release of the results of the May 2023 Professional Examinations in General and Post Basic Nursing. This is a significant milestone in the annual academic calendar of the NMCN.

Breakdown of the May 2023 Professional Exam Results

Following this approval, the Council provided a summary of the results for the various nursing programs.

General Nursing Programmes

The General Nursing Programmes saw an impressive turnout in terms of successful candidates. The breakdown is as follows:

i. Basic Nursing Programme: A total of 3,939 candidates were successful in the examination, which represented an 88% pass rate.

ii. Refresher Programme: The Refresher Programme saw 125 successful candidates, accounting for a 64% pass rate.

iii. Foreign Trained Nurses: The examination for Foreign Trained Nurses had 245 successful candidates, indicating a 65% pass rate.

iv. Community Nursing Programme: The Community Nursing Programme posted strong results with 386 successful candidates, resulting in an 86% pass rate.

v. Post Basic Nursing Programme: The Post Basic Nursing Programme saw the highest pass rate at 97%, with 935 candidates emerging successful.

Accessing the Results

The Council has directed the heads of the training institutions to check the results of their institutions online. The results will be available for viewing as from Saturday, 27th May 2023. This will allow the institutions to assess their performance and make the necessary adjustments in their curriculum and teaching methods if needed.
