Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill the following academic vacancies in various departments/units of the University of Ibadan (UI) as indicated below:

  1. DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

Lecturer II/Lecturer 1/Senior Lecturer

Applicants must possess Bachelor, Master and Ph.D Degrees in relevant or related fields from an accredited and reputable university.

A minimum of 3 years teaching experience at the University level is required for Lecturer 1 applicants and a minimum of 6 years teaching experience at the University level for Senior Lecturer applicants. Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable outlets is required for Lecturer 1 and Senior Lecturer applicants.

Applicants must be competent to teach Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Quantitative Methods and Research Methodology, Mathematical Economics and Econometrics as well as at least two of the following courses:

  • Monetary and Finance Economics
  • Development Economics
  • Public Sector Economics
  • International Economics
  • Petroleum and Energy Economics
  • Health Economics
  • Labour Economics

II DEPARTMENT OF BANKING AND FINANCE

Lecturer II/Lecturer I/Senior Lecturer

Applicants must possess Bachelor, Master and Ph.D Degrees in relevant disciplines from an accredited and reputable University.

A minimum of 3 years post-doctoral teaching experience in a University is required for Lecturer I applicants and a minimum of 6 years teaching experience in a University for Senior Lecturer applicants. Evidence of scholarly publications is required for Lecturer I and Senior Lecturer applicants.

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Bankers is an added advantage (or other relevant professional bodies).

Applicants must be competent to teach Microecconomics, Macroeconomics, Bank Lending and Credit Administration, Banking Laws and Regulations. In addition, Applicants must be able to teach at least two of the following elective courses:

  • Monetary and Finance Policy
  • Quantitative Methods and Research Methodology
  • Investment analysis and Capital Market
  • Financial Management and Financial Statement Linkages
  • Corporate Policy and Strategy
  • Business Ethics and Corporate Governance
  • Bank and Risk Management
  • International Banking and Risk
  • International Finance, Futures and Derivatives
  • Islamic Banking and Finance.

III DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING

Lecturer II/Lecturer I/Senior Lecturer

Applicants must possess Bachelor, Master and Ph.D Degrees in relevant or related fields from an accredited University.

Evidence of relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage.

A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a university is required for Lecturer I applicants and a minimum of 6 years teaching experience in a university for Senior Lecturer applicants. Evidence of scholarly publications is required for Lecturer I and Senior Lecturer applicants.

Applicants must be competent to teach Financial Reports and Ethics; Management Accounting and Tax. In addition applicants must be able to teach at least two of the following elective courses:

  • Quantitative Methods and Research Methodology
  • Audit and Assurance
  • Strategic financial Management
  • Public sector Accounting
  • International Accounting and Risk management
  • Forensic Accounting
  • Corporate Policy and Strategy
  • Business Strategy and Corporate Governance
  • Human Resources Accounting
  • Environmental Accounting.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Applicants should forward their applications and detailed Curriculum Vitae (20 copies) stating: Date of Birth (not Age), Marital Status, State of Origin, L.G.A., Telephone Number, E-mail Address, Academic Qualifications, Previous Work Experience, Publications (if any),Names and Addresses of three (3) Referees and enclose two sets of Photostat copies of relevant credentials including Birth Certificate/Sworn Affidavit of Birth to reach the Deputy Registrar Establishments (Academic Staff), University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, not later than six weeks from the date of this publication.

Applicants should request their referees to send reports on them on letter head and under confidential cover, indicating the positions and department to which they have applied, direct to the Deputy Registrar Establishments (Academic Staff) from who further details may be obtained.

Applicants are required to indicate the position and Department to which they applied in the application as well as the envelope containing the application.

Only the applications of shortlisted candidates will be acknowledged.

Shortlisted applicants would be required to make a Departmental seminar presentation on a completed/ongoing research work in their area of interest before being shortlisted for the oral interview.
