UNN, CBAAC Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to Promote African Culture

The University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Black African Arts and Civilisation (CBAAC) to use the university’s Institute of African Studies to promote African arts and culture.

According to the President of CBAAC Dr Ferdinand Anikwe, who made the disclosure on Wednesday in Nsukka, the signing of MoU was to assist as well as encourage the institute to research more on African cultures to show the world more about the rich cultural heritage of African people.

Anikwe said that the centre had noted with satisfaction efforts of the Institute of African Studies of the university towards promoting African arts, language and culture.

He said Africa had a rich cultural heritage that had been accepted in every part of the world.

In his reaction, the Vice-Chancellor of UNN, Prof Benjamin Ozumba expressed happiness with the partnership which he said would boost promotion of African arts and culture in the university.

“I thank CBAAC for appreciating the university’s contributions in promoting of African language, arts and culture.

“This university will continue to use its Institute of African studies to show that Africans have so many things to offer the world in arts and culture,” Ozumba said.

Director of Institute of African Studies, Prof Emeka Nwabueze described the partnership with CBAAC as one of the best things that had happened to the university adding that it would make more people around the world to know more about UNN.
