Kaduna Polytechnic ASUP Suspends Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter has suspended its 17-day old strike.

Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter has suspended its 17-day old strike.

This was announced by the ASUP Chairman, Dr Aliyu Ibrahim, in a communique issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday.

According to him, the decision was reached after a meeting organised by the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr Masaudu kazaure and management of the polytechnic where the management of Kaduna Polytechnic agreed to commence the immediate payment of the two months outstanding arrears of Peculiar Academic and Hazard Allowances.

The union had on Dec. 30, 2016, embarked on an indefinite strike over the non-payment of five months peculiar academic and hazard allowance arrears by the institution’s management.
